Typically, break in oils are conventional based lubricants. Often, they contain zinc phosphorus (ZDDP) plus moly anti wear chemistries. ZDDP creates a polar attraction to surfaces in the engine. It also creates a sacrificial layer to prevent metal to metal contact in areas where a full fluid oil film cannot exist. For example, between cam lobes and
