He had forced two Albatros down out of control in March and May 1917 before the victory depicted here on 7th July 1917
One of the most notable pilots of 3 Squadron was the Frenchman Pierre Clostermann who enjoyed much success flying Spitfires with the Free French 341 Alsace Squadron before moving to 602 and 274 Squadrons RAF
